LONDON Prime Minister Boris Johnson will unveil Britain's latest coronavirus lockdown's latest loose Tuesday when he announced a review of whether the two-meter clause on social disturbances should be relaxed.
The UK economy was affected by the lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and many businesses closed, especially in the hospitality and leisure sectors, although unnecessary retailers were allowed to reopen last Monday
Some lawmakers in the Johnson Party have lamented that he has broken the two-meter clause, saying that the economy had shrunk by a quarter in March and April. The government is wary that Coronavirus does not want to get a second nail in novel cases.
The Prime Minister will tell parliament on Tuesday that the government will reopen any areas under the roadmap to exit the lockdown on July 4, according to Johnson's office. Detailed guidance is provided for each sector in order for businesses to be "COVID Safe".
The Sunday Telegraph reported that Johnson would also announce a change in the Social Distance Guidelines as additional measures, such as wearing masks, would require people to have only one meter.
The UK has the highest number of deaths in the world after COVID-19, but the number of cases has steadily decreased in recent weeks. Sunday deaths of confirmed cases increased from 43 to 42,632, the minimum increase since the lockdown was implemented in March.
"The disease is rapidly under control," Johnson said Sunday. "Of course as we make that progress, it will be possible for us to open up more. On social disturbances, look at this place and now you won't have much to wait."
Health Secretary Matt Hancock says there are potential mitigation drugs that allow people to stay close to two meters while limiting the risk of spreading the virus. He said he would not refuse to enter details before going to a pub or restaurant.
A Johnson spokesman said it was important to follow social discrimination rules because people were relaxed and did not “hesitate” to apply the handbrake.
