The ruling Czech Republic on Friday reported 168 new cases of coronavirus, the highest daily since the beginning of April, following the start of the country's two-month summer holiday season.
According to the Ministry of Health website, it is the fourth day to show a 100-day increase in the last 10 days. The east side of Caravan has been heavily impacted for the past one week.
For many children and students, Friday is the last day of school, and their families are preparing for the holidays. Many Czechs spend time in the country without going abroad because they are worried about viruses and travel restrictions.
The government has gradually lifted many restrictions on business, except wearing masks and restrictions on pub openings and big cultural events. It said it would focus on local blockade and tracing and testing measures rather than national lockdowns in the future.
Last Monday, more than 500 to 1,000 people were allowed to attend public events. Trade festivals were given the green light and zoos, museums and palaces were allowed to return to normal activities without restrictions on the number of visitors.
As of Saturday morning, a total of 11,038 coronavirus cases were reported, with 349 deaths in the country and 10.7 million.
