WASHINGTON The United States has been accused of damaging a statue of President Andrew Jackson during protests near the White House. All four were charged by the Justice Department on Saturday.

During Monday's demonstration, protesters carved a "murderous scum" on the back of the statue, tying ropes and cords around both Jackson and his horse's head, and engulfing the audience with a yellow marble base. The people began to try to destroy the law on their behalf.
