US Attorney Jeffrey Burman of Manhattan plans to step down and President Donald Trump will nominate the current Securities and Exchange Commission chairman, Attorney General William Burr announced Friday evening.
But Burman said he wanted the plan in a press release and said he had no intention.
“I have not resigned and have no intention of resigning, for which the United States District Court Judges have been appointed for the Southern District of New York.
"I will step down when the nominee for President is confirmed by the Senate. Until then, our investigation will continue without delay or interruption. He said important things were not disclosed.
The word of Barr's statement caught senior officers in his office. Despite escaping the embarrassment of the case, his office has prosecuted former Trump loyalist Michael Cohen. And he oversaw the investigation into Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani's business activities.
Brar said the president would nominate Jay Clayton after Burman.

A senior administration official said Barr made the decision because Clayton left the SEC and returned to New York and expressed interest in the position of U.S. Attorney. Burman was offered another position in the Justice Department but refused.
"This is not a reflection on Burman, but Bar Clayton was very respected and thought he was a good fit," the official said. The U.S. Attorney position is a political appointment, the official said.
