Mamata says Sonia Gandhi and government should be united in seeking a regular briefing



Leaders of major political parties have expressed their views on the border tension with China and the deaths of 20 Indian Army soldiers.


The government has invited leaders of 20 major political parties to discuss the issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a virtual meeting on Tuesday, a day after the death of 20 soldiers in a violent clash with Chinese forces in the Galwana Valley in eastern Ladakh.

The meeting began with competitors paying tribute to the martyred Indian soldiers. This was followed by a presentation by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also spoke at the meeting.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, TRS leader K Chandrasekhar Rao, JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar, DMK's MK Stalin, YSR Congress party YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Shiv Sena Uddhav have participated in the meeting.

The head of the Sikkim Revolutionary Front, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, told the gathering, "We have perfection in the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has made historic decisions when it comes to national security."

TRS chief and Telangana CM KCR said Prime Minister's resolution on Kashmir has angered China. The Prime Minister's emphasis on the development of Kashmir has also angered China. He stressed that Prime Minister's call for Atmanbir India had shaken China.
Pinaki Mishra of Biju Janata Dal, representing his party, said, "We stand with the government fully and unconditionally."

DMK's MK Stalin said, "We are united when we talk about patriotism." He welcomed the Prime Minister's recent statements on the Chinese issue.

Conrad Sangma of the NPP said: "Infrastructure across the border should not be stopped. Sponsored activities in Myanmar and China are of concern.
