Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched 'Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan' to boost livelihood opportunities in rural India amid the coronavirus crisis. In particular, India has seen millions of migrant workers who lost their jobs during the crisis.
The Prime Minister was flagged off by video conferencing from the village of Gilihar in Khagaria district of Bihar. The program was launched in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

It involves 25 types of intensive and focused implementation to provide employment and infrastructure in rural areas of the country. The PMO office said it has a resource envelope of Rs 50,000 crore.
The campaign includes skills development training, work under the District Mineral Fund, waste management work, gas pipeline, work under the District Mineral Fund, and other vital activities for migrant workers.
Anganwadi Centers, Rural Roads, Rural Houses, Railway Works, Rurban Mission, Solar Pumpsets, Fiber Optic Cables, Water Life and 25 Others in rural areas doing various tasks in urban areas.
In a statement on May 5, the government said that around 39 crore people have received Rs 34,800 crore under the Kovid-19 lockdown under the Prime Minister's Poor Welfare Package (PMGKP).
These people were helped, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on March 26 to protect against the impact of the lockdown due to COVID-19 through digital payment infrastructure.
