Storm alert for many in Britain after heavy rocks in northern England

A yellow weather warning has been issued in most England, Scotland, and East Wales since the June heatwave was ending.

The weather changed Friday evening in northern England after temperatures reached 30 degrees for three days.

Leeds and Sheffield are places to see rocks up to 4 cm with torrential rain.

The yellow weather warning for thunderstorms will continue until 9am on Saturday, with hail, lightning and flooding in parts of the UK and 50 millimeters of rain per hour.

The southwest and the southeastern coast of England are not on the alert.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland, there is another yellow weather warning for rain between 9am and 10pm on Saturday, with the Met Office saying there could be as much as 20mm of rain per hour.

Met Office's meteorologist Craig Snell said: "Not everyone can see the storm, but if you catch one, you know about it."

The Environment Agency has issued seven flood warnings - meaning flooding is possible.

Five of these are located along the rivers of the West Midlands, the other for the Trent tributaries of Loughborough and Nottinghamshire in Leicestershire.

Meanwhile, Mr. Snell said he had seen pictures of ole stones on Friday and had been in shape due to the heat of previous days.

He said: "It is usually a little less when we have hail in the winter, but this time of year because the heat of thunderstorms gives more energy and helps the hailstones stay in the cloud longer. That is, they rise and fall from the sky."

Earlier Friday, temperatures reached 31.2C (88.16F) at Cue Gardens in west London, the hottest place in Britain, the Met Office said.

Thursday saw the hottest day of the year - Britain's 33.4C (92.1F) at West London's Heathrow Airport. Prestwick in Scotland reached 30.8C (87.4F) and Trasgoid 31.4C (88.5F) near Aberystwyth in Wales.

High temperatures have seen thousands on the beaches, especially on the south coast of England, with some authorities reporting "gridlock roads", fighting and camping overnight.

Saturday's temperatures are expected to drop to 22C (71.6F) in London and 15C (59F) in the north of England and sunny and rainy in Scotland.

On Sunday, the North Wales and North West of England coasts are expected to rain and up to 50mph. Even more inland, it can be scary.
