Will Smith has experienced police racism

Will Smith has been racially abused by police "on more than 10 occasions."

The 'Bad Boys' actor admitted he was "often" stopped in Philadelphia, where he used vulgar language because of his skin color.

Speaking on the 'On One With Angela Rye' podcast, "I grew up in Philadelphia and grew up under Mayor Rizzo. He went from police chief to mayor, and he has an iron arm.

“I have been called n ***** by the police in Philly on more than 10 occasions.

"I stopped repeatedly so I could understand how to be in those situations with the police."

The 51-year-old star feels that the Global Black Lives Matter protests are unprecedented and many are happy to have pledged their support to end racism.

He said: “We are in an unprecedented situation.

"The whole world stood up and said to the African American people, 'We see you and we listen to you. How can we help?' We haven't been there before. "

Although Will understands the rage that many feel about racism, he warns of the dangers of "eating" in anger.

He said: "Anger is justified under repression, but it's also really dangerous."

"You were careful not to eat your own rage, and I worked very hard."

Instead, the ‘Men in Black’ star feels that peaceful protest is the most powerful demonstration against oppression.

He said: "Peaceful protest mirrors the demonic image of your oppressor. And the more you manifest in your peaceful protest, the more your oppression - the mirror will be more visible for the world to see and for themselves.

"This generation has been able to hold that mirror so strongly, and then I have been really encouraged to see and respond to the world. I strongly encourage the seamless connectivity of protesters around the world."

However, while they do not think that racism and prejudice will ever be completely eliminated, they hope that the next generation will use their votes and lead with love as they seek to make changes.

He said: "" Do not commit suicide to love no matter how bad you are, because [then] you poison yourself and you poison your community.

“I pledge my endless devotion to the development of our community and the development of our country and ultimately to the world, towards the greatest harmony we can produce.

"I am happy to be alive and serving at this time."
