Democratic nominee Joe Biden on Tuesday chose Sen Kamala Harris (de-Calif.) As his ally. One of the most devastating decisions of the 2020 presidential bid was the conclusion of months of valuation agreements.
Biden called on former rival Harris in the
Democratic primary to do his best to defeat President Trump and lead the country through the coronavirus epidemic, recession, and racial segregation.
If elected, Harris, of Jamaican and Indian the descent would be the first woman vice president to be, elected.
"These are not ordinary times. For
the first time in our history, we are facing three historic crises - all at the
same time. We are facing the worst pandemic in 100 years. The worst economic
crisis since the Great Depression. The strongest call is racial justice in a
generation that has lit the flames of hatred and division." Biden
announced in an email to supporters.
"I want someone to work with me. They
are smart, tough, and ready to lead. Kamala is that person," he said.
Biden praised Harris' achievements, first
as California's attorney general and later as the U.S. state's largest state.
Senator. Intelligence and Judiciary Committees - He is one of the most
difficult and highly influential senators on the two important committees in
the Upper Chamber. Harris also sits on the Senate Homeland Security Committee,
the Public Affairs Committee, and the Budget Committee.
Hailing Harris as a leader in criminal
justice and marital equality, Biden said he was "laser-focused" on
racial inequality as a result of the epidemic.
Biden said he first met Harris in 2015
through his son Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer. At the time, Harris was
Attorney General of California and Attorney General of Beau Delaware.
"He has a lot of respect for her and
her work," Biden said. "I thought a lot about it when I made this
decision. I have no opinion about those who are worth more than Beau. Kamala is
proud to stand by my side in this campaign."
Harris said on Twitter that Biden could
unite the American people because he fought for us so that the American people
could unite. As President, he will build America in line with our ideals.
Biden and Harris will address the press on
Wednesday for the first time on a Democratic ticket.
They will formally receive party
nominations at next week's Democratic National Convention. Harris will speak
more on Wednesday than former President Obama. Biden will conclude the event on
Thursday night.
"Joe Biden blocked this
decision," Obama said in a statement. "By electing Senator Kamala
Harris as the next Vice President of the United States, he emphasized his duty
and role. The reality is that these qualities are not optional in the
President. They are job requirements. The United States now has a suitable
partner to help.
Biden's election comes after months of
internal discussions and interviews with more than a dozen candidates. Former
National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Michigan
Government Gretchen Whitmer, Reps, Wall Demings (Fla), Karen Boss (Calif.)
Ultimately, Biden chose the primary rival
of the rising Democrat and former president, who once clashed fiercely along
the campaign trail.
During preliminary discussions, Harris
criticized her civil rights record, accusing her of being close to senators who
support secession, and of her previous opposition to the federal bus system
used as a child to unify schools.
The Harris campaign sold her
t-shirts when she went to school to celebrate the moment of controversy that
saw her jump in the election.
But she was not a factor in the initial expansion, and she left
when she ran out of money for her campaign.
Biden said he did not seek revenge.
"Her record - fighting teeth and claws for the right ones -
is why I choose her," Biden said.
"The lotus will not be torn down, not a single stone will be
left, for life to be better - for the people - she wakes up every day - as I
wish - for people to think about how to make life better.
The Trump campaign released a blistering statement on Harris,
recalling the initial attacks on Biden and accusing him of abandoning his own
morality for political gain.
Republicans have suggested that Harris' record as Attorney General
of California should be used’ against them. Some on the left criticized her for
her policies, linking ethnic minorities to low-level drug crimes, she said.
"Immediately, Kamala Harris called Joe Biden a racist and
apologized for not accepting her," said Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina
Pearson. Phony Kamala abandons her morals and hides her record as a prosecutor
to appease the anti-police terrorists who control the Democratic Party.
