A supremacist who killed 51 Muslim worshippers in New Zealand's deadliest
shooting has been sentenced’ to life without parole.
It's the longest sentence handed call at New Zealand's legal history, and a penalty never before utilized in the country.
Brenton Tarrant's sentence follows three days of emotionally
charged statements from his victims during a Christchurch court.
Aden Diriye's young son was shot’ dead within the massacre and his other son, Abdiramen Ibrahim, read his
statement.
In it, he said, "This terrorist killed my beloved
three-year-old son, and to me, it's as if you've got killed the entire of latest Zealand."
Ahad Nabi lost his elderly father, Haji Mohammad Daoud Nabi,
and also spoke on to Tarrant, saying: "You hurt my father, but you never took
him far away from me.
"While you're in prison you'll come to the truth that you simply are now in hell and only the hearth awaits you.
"Your father was a garbage collector, you became trash of society, and he’s ashamed of your identity. You deserved to be buried’ during a landfill.
Prosecutors had said Tarrant wanted to instill fear in those
he described as invaders, which he carefully planned the attacks to cause maximum carnage.
