Barack and Michelle Obama have been named’ the world's most admired men and women, according to a new global poll.
The results, compiled by data analytics firm YouGov, surveyed
45,000 people in 42 different countries.
For the first time since the survey began in 2014, the former US
president has been named’ the most admired person by Microsoft co-founder Bill
Gates.
Gates is in second place, followed by Chinese President Xi
Jinping in third place.
Matthew Smith, a journalist with YouGov Central Statistics, said
the decline for Gates could be due to widespread rumors that he was involved in
COVID-19 epidemics.
Michelle Obama remains the woman to retire from actress Angelina
Jolie in 2019. This year, Julie was second and Queen Elizabeth II was third.
The results of the survey were calculated’ by answering two
questions: "Who do you really admire?” Where respondents can answer
multiple people, and "Who do you admire the most?" , Where
respondents can make only one choice.
Smith says entertainers, including the top 12 actresses, singers
or television presenters, dominate the list of women.
"In contrast, the list of most popular men includes more
and more people from political, business and sports backgrounds," Smith
said.
The country's poor results show that in New Zealand, Barack
Obama was considered’ the most liked man and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern the
most liked the woman.
In the men's category in New Zealand, David Attenborough and
Richie McKay finished second and third respectively. Queen Elizabeth II and
Michelle Obama were runners-up for the women's top spot.
Incumbent President Donald Trump is ranked 15th in the world
after last year's election.
With the exception of Obama, every country in Russia is more
praised’ than Trump, where Trump is 11th and Obama is 14th.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, saw the biggest jump in the
global survey, rising from 13th to ninth in a single year.
