Faced with a recurring virus infection, the French government on Thursday unveiled details of a 100 billion euro (eight 118 billion) rehabilitation plan aimed at creating jobs, saving struggling businesses. And the country has to get out of the worst economic crisis since World War II.
Ahead of the presentation, Prime Minister
Jean Costex said on RTL radio that the project is expected’ to create 160,000
jobs next year and restore France's economic growth by 2022. This is the year
of the next French presidential election.
The "France Reboot" project
includes funding to renovate buildings and promote rail use to reduce
emissions.
More than 7,000 cases of the virus were
reported’ in France on Thursday, the highest daily rate in Europe and more than
several hundred cases a day in May and June, when France was coming out of a
tight lock and checking less. The number of people receiving intensive care
with the virus is slowly increasing, although it is far from the level of the
March and April crises.
Despite the boom, French schools reopened
for extraordinary classes this week, and authorities are urging people to
return to work.
Covid 19 has killed more than 30,600
people in France.
