Fans will soon be able to enter the Wankhede Stadium accepting the proposal of Minister of State for Tourism Aditya Thackeray to open a prominent ground for tourism with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
The MCA's highest council met on Tuesday
and agreed in principle to work with the state's tourism department. A detailed
memorandum will be signed’ in the coming days.
"We in the tourism department had
asked @MumbaiCricAssoc to work with us at the opening of Wankhede Stadium for a
stadium experience for tourists and spectators from all over the world. The
tourism minister tweeted on Tuesday that he had talked to former MCA president
Sharad Pawar and current MCA president Vijay Patil about setting up an Indian
cricket museum in Mumbai. Of conversation
Mumbai has a remarkable history in
cricket, having the honor of winning 41 Spiritual Trophy Championships with
Wankhede Stadium. It is the same venue that hosted the 2011 World Cup final,
which India won by defeating Sri Lanka.
The MCA will set up a new museum in the
adjoining building and has formed a committee to begin work on it.
Last month, Ajinkya Naik of the MCA's High
Council suggested that a special seat in the stadium be named’ after former
India captain MS Dhoni so that he could win the 2011 World Cup. Celebrate the

A stadium guide tour has been arranged’
for spectators from various countries, such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground in
