Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday lamented the failure of the United States to stand with people with disabilities during the Coronavirus epidemic and to break sanctions on people with disabilities.
He also said that if the United States had
"a little bit of humanity or brains," it would have lifted sanctions
on Iran for the duration of the health crisis.
With more than 380,000 registered and more
than 22,000 deaths since the Middle Ages, Iran is a pandemic in the Middle
East.
"Ever since the corona virus reached
our country, no one has come to our aid," Rouhani said in remarks aired
live on Iranian state television.
He said that if there was "a little
bit of humanity and brains" in the United States, he would offer to lift
the ban for one year because of the coronavirus.
"But America is far more remorseful
and wicked than that," he added.
"Instead, he imposed new restrictions
and pressure on us during the seven-year coronavirus," Rouhani said.
At the same time, he said, "not a
single friendly country has said that we will stand with the United States for
the sake of this coronavirus and the difficulties and humanity," and
despite threats of American retaliation. Will do business with Iran.
The United States has threatened to impose
sanctions on anyone doing business with Iran.
The sanctions are part of US President
Donald Trump's 2018 efforts to reduce Iranian tariffs following the 2015
withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.
