The Knight Riders had won three matches in a row, but were brought’ back to the ground at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.

 

It was an amazing knock by de Villiers, which benefited the RCB immensely. South Africa played an innings of 73 off just 33 balls to come up with an impressive score of 194-2.

 

De Villiers hit six sixes and five fours, reaching his half-century in 23 runs as Andre Russell and Pat Cummins came in all parts.

 

Aaron Finch (47), Virat Kohli (33no) and Devot Padkal (32) also contributed, but it was de Villiers who reached the central stage with his highest score against KKR.

 

The Knight Riders could only manage 112-9 in response to the slow track, with the impressive Washington Sundar winning 2-2 in their four overs and Chris Morris winning 2-17.

 

All six RCB bowlers took at least one wicket and Yuzvendra Chahal scored a remarkable 1-2 after a 24-run individuality.

 

Shubman Gul scored 34 runs while the batsman of only three Knight Riders scored double figures in a huge victory, which put Kohli ahead of his opponents in the third position.

RCB was 2-2-2 when de Villiers joined the crease with Kohli in the 13th over when the pitch was cleared’ by Prasad Krishna Yorker.

 

South Africa's wealthy captain Kohli died and Kamlesh Nigarkoti was dismissed’ twice for six. One had disappeared from the ground.

 

De Villiers continued to be brutal, with Russell scoring 34 runs in his last two overs and conceding a half-century in brilliant blitz.

 

Kohli agreed to strike de Villiers, the wicketkeeper-batsman ended up with an amazing strike rate of 221.21, and KKR faced a huge chase.

Sundar has not taken so many wickets in the tournament so far, but the spinner has definitely made a significant impact.

 

Their economy rate is 90.90 from seven matches. Yes, only teammate Morris (50.50) improved - who has only played two games.

 

Sundar bowled Nitish Rana and chased the run and also saw the back of Avon Morgan who could never really go, Tom Bunton was out for eight runs in his first position in the IPL.

 

Willie Morris also had another good day, when it was written’ on the wall for KKR, he took two wickets.
