Ole Gunnar Solaskar insisted that goalkeeper David De Gea was still "the best in the world", while his performance against the Tottenham Hotspur was heavily criticized during the Manchester United star's passionate defense.
United face Sheffield United at Soulscare for the first time at Old Trafford after winning the Manchester derby on March 8.
The Reds marked their opening match for the Spurs in the Premier League on Friday with a 1-1 lead from a coronavirus lockdown, but Steven Bergwijn's shot-slip ex-United captain Roy Keane was severely criticized for falling to his fingers.
Former Old Trafford team-mate Keane defended his goalkeeper at a press conference ahead of Tuesday's match.
"David is the best goalkeeper in the world," he said.
"They have scored two goals in the last seven games for us. Two games against City and Chelsea. Tottenham, Everton, of course. Two goals in seven matches, we have scored one run.
"Everton is a freak, maybe. It's one. He can't save it. He saves a lot. He plays games for us."
De Gea is about to start against Blades, and Dean Henderson is unable to face his parent club due to the terms of his loan deal.
Norwegian boss, Henderson has said that he will one day be Manchester United and England and extend his playing style for the Blades.
"He's learning all the time. He's a passionate keeper who wants to be the best, so he is thriving. He has good coaching out there," Solaskar said.
"I think one day he'll be England's number one and man United number one and it's up to him to keep improving."
Solaskar expects Henderson's Bramall Lane loan to be extended formally before Tuesday's deadline, but Angel Gomes could not provide an update on the future.
The 19-year-old has not yet agreed to a new deal with United.
"For me, I didn't talk to anyone last night or this morning," Solskjaer said of the teenage midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the month.
"So I can't really update on the paperwork and the manager and the meetings that are going on."
