Staff Reporter: The family of imprisoned BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has requested the Interior Ministry to extend their parole.
In the petition, Khaleda's family has also
appealed to allow the BNP chairperson to travel abroad for better treatment,
according to Somoy TV.
"A letter has been sent to the law
ministry for further action on his release," Interior Minister Asaduzzaman
Khan said.
Khaleda Zia's lawyer said, "If the
government wants, it can forgive him." However, ACC lawyers said the
government had no jurisdiction to decide without a court order.

On March 25, Khaleda was released’ from
prison for six months on the basis of age and humanitarian grounds.
The government approved an executive order
for her release on two conditions, allowing her to stay at Gulshan's residence
and not leave the country.
