Beyoncé's 'Black Is King' Co-Director Shares Behind-the-Scenes Secrets from Filming (Exclusive)

Now, in an special new interview with ET, co-director Kwasi Fordjour is spilling all the important points on how Black Is King got here to be and what it was once like touring all over the world with Beyoncé.

"It commenced a yr ago, and at the time, it wasn't a grand idea; it used to be a video," Fordjour tells ET's Kevin Frazier. "We had simply completed 'Spirit.' That was once the first visible from the album, and she desired to launch greater visuals. We have been discussing what we would do, what the method would be, and it truly is how it all started."

"For me, it is noticeably exciting," he adds, of what it is like working on such a huge production. "The tree shot in 'Already,' that used to be her backyard," he reveals. "Yeah, that was once the adrenaline [rushing] due to the fact she was once like, 'I prefer to shoot, let's do it. Let's begin at my house.' I was once like, 'Hell yeah, let's do it!' So we scouted and we discovered the tree that felt like it was once the most relative to The Lion King."

"Because it was once the first video, that video took the longest to shoot," he adds. "I prefer to say we shot that one throughout perhaps like 4-5 days."

While the visible album is stuffed’ with memorable scenes, one of the most talked about is the outdoor tea party, which aspects Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, and her and JAY-Z's 8-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Fashion curator Zerina Akers, who labored intently with Fordjour, tells ET that was once her favourite scene to style... mainly with Tina being involved!

"Miss Tina truly used to be a last-minute addition to that shot. She got here to set that day and Beyoncé used to be like, 'Mom, you have to be in this,'" Fordjour recalls. "So we put her in her purple look."

Akers additionally joked about having to pack an entire suitcase of garb and add-ons every time Bey calls. She says Beyoncé had a complete of sixty-three costume modifications inside the 85-minute film.

"You have to be prepared," she exclaimed. "If she says, 'I simply prefer to shoot, I suppose it would be clearly first-rate in a T-shirt,' I'm like, OK, 10 ball gowns, please. Just in case!
