Biden warned of Russian election interference after receiving an intelligence briefing

Former Vice President Joe Biden said he began receiving intelligence during the campaign on Friday, warning of foreign interference in the 2020 presidential election.

"I assure you that we already know and I know you now because I am getting briefings again. The Russians are still trying to hand over our electoral process," he said.

"China and others are engaged in activities designed to cause them to lose confidence in the outcome," he said.

Biden recently began an intelligence briefing in the wake of the June 30 incident, which could be used "well" for intelligence on reports sent by Russia to the Taliban for US and Afghan coalition forces.

Democrats have warned that the country’s electoral system is not safe amid concerns that Russia and other foreign opponents could thwart their electoral interference efforts after focusing on Moscow in the 2016 race.

In presidential elections, presidential candidates traditionally have the opportunity to provide information on intelligence. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both made their debuts in August 2016.
