Shubman Gul scored a stunning unbeaten half-century for Kolkata Knight Riders to win the Indian Premier League by seven wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday.
Both sides had lost their first game of the tournament and it
was KKR who got up and ran at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. After winning the toss
and choosing to bat, the Sunrisers were able to take a 142-4 position. ۔
Manish Pandey scored 51 off 38 balls and Warner scored 36, but
Pat Cummins (1-19) and Varun Chakraborty (1-25) were the standout bowlers for
the Knight Riders.
In reply, KKR was ahead of the run rate, but Abu Dhabi had to
work in the seventh over when they were 53-3.
The fields broke Bairstow's birthday
Johnny Bairstow failed to celebrate his 31st birthday with an
explosive knock, leaving with just five runs off 10 balls.
The England batsman may have thought that this was the day he
successfully reviewed after being handed’ to Cummins, but he was cleaned up on
the very next ball from the Australian.
Cummins, who gave away 49 runs in three overs after losing to Mumbai
Indians three days ago, was brilliant and deserved more than just one wicket,
bowling 11 dot balls in four excellent overs.
Bairstow's opening partner Warner was in good contact until he
was caught out by Chakraborty.

veteran Morgan.
Gill and England's one-day World Cup-winning captain Morgan both
hit sixes when they snatched the game from the Sun Riser.

long on six and ending it with four runs off the next ball.
Gul, who also found the rope five times, was named’ man of the
match after another demonstration of his promise.
Star spinner Rashid Khan stuck the leg of skipper Dinesh Karthik
to give the Knight Riders three runs, Sunil Narine also left without scoring a
run and Thangarsu Natarajan caught Nitish Rana (26) behind.
Gill (70no in 62) and Avon Morgan (29 for 42) then teamed up an
unbeaten 92-run stand to save Kolkata from two overs.
