Faf du Plessis proved his mettle to the Chennai Super Kings by catching two brilliant catches on the boundary ropes. When the Mumbai Indians were getting out of CSK's grip after batting just 121/3 after just 14 overs, Du Plessis made sure his team came back into the fray.
It all started in the first delivery of
the 15th over when Ravinder Jadeja was bowling Sorab Tiwary. The Jharkhand the batsman tried to slug the length delivery on the long fence, but the prosthetic
cricketer performed some great acrobatics and took just one inch of the blender
inside the rope, causing Tiwary to score 31 for 42 After scoring runs, they
left.
In the fifth delivery of the same over,
Hardik Pandya tried to do the same but Du Plessis reacted. Despite the ball
traveling extremely fast, the South African cricketers managed to execute the
jumping catch in the same manner, which saw many draws with their compatriots
and legendary fielder Jonty Rhodes. ۔
Both dismissals helped CSK compete after a
tough rusty start. The Mumbai Indians, who at one stage sought to impose a huge
target on their opponents, finally managed to score only 162/9.
