The Kremlin has rejected Alexei Navalny's allegations that Vladimir Putin was responsible for his apparent poisoning.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters
Thursday that "I have said that the patient is not working with Western
security services, but is on the other side." "We have information
that US intelligence services are working with him. This will not be the first
time he has been instructed."
Mr. Peskov said the Kremlin had considered
comments from Putin's critics in an interview with Der Spiegel that they were
"baseless, unacceptable and offensive."
"This statement is wrong and is
designed to keep it at the same level as the first person in the state," Mr.
Peskov said. To suggest that the political battle is with him, he said. But
[Putin's] real opponents are different. They are not half or slight opponents.
Mr. Peskov added that there was nothing to
stop Mr. Navalny from returning home.
"There is no bravery in it. People
come to our country for treatment. We save lives in Russia. Even in the case of
this patient. "
