Jamaican dancer L'Antonte Staines has sued Beyonce and Jay-Z, claiming that the superstar duo did not give themselves credit for their role in the song Black Effect.
In documents filed Tuesday in federal court and obtained by TMZ.com, Stein said Beyonce and J had asked her in March 2018 to help her find the best dancers for the video that promoted her tour.
After helping her, Staines alleged that the couple asked her to record her thoughts on love, saying the video was being used for "publicity purposes." On the day of the shooting, it was once again stated that he had signed a contract handed over to him by the couple's lawyers and was used solely for interview promotion.
However, after listening to Beyonce and Jay-Z from the 2018 Everything Is Love album - Black Effect - for the first time, Staines was shocked to hear that she was the first minute of the tune.
She said she was not credited for her role in the song, and that her lack of identity made her feel "artistically raped."
Stein is now suing Beyonce and Jay for copyright infringement and infringement of her publicity rights. She is also asking for damages, and credit for the song - as well as the royalties that come with such credits.
Beyonce and JAY-Z have not yet commented publicly on the lawsuit.
