Ocasio-Cortez wins the primary in NY, with no other races mentioned

NEW YORK Freshman U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won the Democratic primary in her New York district on Tuesday, while other members of Congress have challenged the rebellion in the race, which may not be decided at least weekly.

The coronavirus epidemic, which advertised from the streets to computer screens, prompted New Yorkers to vote by mail, but the ballots would not be counted until July 1.

Democratic Socialist Ocasio-Cortez defeated powerful Democratic ally Joe Crowley in the 2018 primary, defeating primary opponents, including former CNBC broadcaster Michelle Caruso-Cabrera. Her district includes parts of the Bronx and Queens.

Meanwhile, Democratic congressmen, including American Rep. Elliott Engel, are looking forward to whether they will face similar challenges.

Engel, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and former middle school chief Jamal Baumann faced the challenge, which was supported by Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders. The district includes parts of the Bronx and suburban Westchester County.

Our rape Yvette Clark has faced many primary opponents in his Brooklyn district, including a Harvard Business School graduate.

Rape Carolyn Maloney also faces a repeat challenger in Suraj Patel, who ran against her in 2018 and was one of three opponents in Tuesday's vote. Patel criticized Maloney for failing to use government tax credits and other concessions so that Amazon could build a secondary headquarters in Queens. The district includes parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

Both districts have large primary areas as a result of the retirement of Democrat Jose Serrano in the Bronx and Nita Lowe in the suburbs north of New York City.

Top candidates for the Serrano seat are City Council member Ruben Diaz Sr., a social conservative who opposes abortion rights and LGBT rights. One of his enemies, City Council member Richie Torres, is gay, and is supported by several LGBT organizations hoping for Diaz to win.

Lowe's seat candidates include Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders and Mandire Jones, backed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, as well as former prosecutor and drug heir Adam Sleefer and former Department of Defense officer Evelyn Ferras.

In addition to Ocasio-Cortez, Gregory Meeks, who won their primaries in the New York City Democratic Incumbents, includes Queens and Nassau County and Grace Meng in Middle Queens. Nidia Velazquez succeeds in a district called Adriano Espilat, which includes Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, and parts of Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Many of New York City's districts and its suburbs are democratic, and the party's primary winner is almost guaranteed to win the November election, with districts in other parts of the state increasingly competitive.

Republican Rep. Peter King has also opened his Long Island seat, and Democrats believe he has a good chance of winning the seat in November. State legislators Andrew Garberino and Mike Lepatri are in the Republican primary, while school guidance counselor Jackie Gordon faces activist Patricia Myher in the Democratic primary.

The West New York district is vacant after the Republican primary and Republican Chris Collins pleaded guilty to hosting a special election to replace the seat later this year. Democrat Nate McMurray has fought Republican state Sen. Chris Jacobs in the special election, and Jacob is one of three candidates in the Republican primary. The primary winner will face McMurray in the general election.Ocasio-Cortez wins the primary in NY, with no other races mentioned
