Men's Junior Asia Cup and Junior World Cup Qualifier Dhaka is scheduled to be held’ from January 21 to 30, 2021 at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The new dates
approved by the FIH come after the event was postponed’ due to the global
epidemic situation. The tournament will be a tough competition between the top
performing teams across Asia, as the top three teams in the next Men's Hockey
Junior World Cup will automatically join host India.
For the first time, the Premier Junior
Continental Tournament will feature ten teams, including hosts Bangladesh,
China, Chinese Taipei, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Uzbekistan and
Pakistan.
Dato Tayyab Ikram confirmed that the age
limit has been extended, meaning that players born on or after January 1, 1999
will be eligible to participate. It also means that players who are now
eligible to play in 2020 will have the opportunity to play on the dates
proposed in 2021.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation President,
Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Srinivasan commented: "Hockey is
