Variations made reading the Quran with translations inevitable



Universities in Punjab have been notified that students should read the Quran with Urdu translation.


Governor / Chancellor Chi Muhammad Sarwar, after consulting the Vice-Chancellors of all the Universities, announced that it was mandatory for universities to read the Quran in translation and issued a formal notification on Sunday in this regard.

According to the notification, lecturers at universities are told that the Quran teaches students with translation and it is mandatory for students to attend lectures. In addition to Islamic studies, the Quranic curriculum is taught in universities.

Regarding the study of the Qur'an, the governor said: "The Qur'an is the source of true guidance for us. Only by following the teachings of the Qur'an can we improve our lives in this world and beyond. The Qur'an is one complete code of life.

We teach the Quran with meaning to the students of all the universities of Punjab so that they can take guidance from it and become a better person. We have constituted a seven-member committee chaired by Professor Niaz Akhtar, Chancellor of the Punjab University.
