Kanye West announced in a tweet on Independence Day that he plans to run for president - 2020 - 122 days before the November 3 election.
The 43-year-old wrote on Twitter, "We must now trust America and realize our promise to consolidate our vision and build our future." "I'm running for president of the United States!"
He ended the tweet with the # 2020VISION hashtag.
His wife, Kim Kardashian West, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted, "You have all my support," tweeting the American flag emoji.
USA Today reached out to West's spokesman for comment or extension.
Last November, he talked about manufacturing for his company Yeezy to create new jobs in the United States.
"When I ran for president in 2024, I created a lot of things. I didn't run. I was going to walk," he said.
But he is launching 2019 in full support for President Trump, who is now running for election as his rival. On the eve of the New Year's Day tweet-fest, West announces "Trump All Day" followed by dragon emojis and "You're standing up."
Dragons referred to a "tweet" that West claimed he and Trump had "dragon energy" that would make them "naturally born leaders."
West did not reveal anything about the run he announced, but the question of his eligibility on the presidential ballots in the late-stage campaign immediately came as an incredible obstacle.
According to the Ball Tapedia website, West recently recalled the dates of filing for independent candidates in several major states, including Indiana, Maine, New York, North Carolina, Texas, and New Mexico (June 25). Michigan (filing July 16) - Pennsylvania August 3, Wisconsin August 4 and Arizona September 4.
CBS News campaign reporter Alexander Tin commented on the possibility of becoming a character in Arizona on Twitter. "Certainly, for 61 days (if it starts tomorrow), 3 percent of Arizona's registered voters may have more than enough time for Kanyewest to sign their petition."
