Strong Iranian lawmakers have instigated the country's foreign minister, Javad Zarif, who on Sunday declared a lie in parliament, provoking divisions and anger, believing that Washington's strict sanctions policy would create deep tension.
Zarif first spoke to the newly elected and conservative supremacist parliament, saying he had to wait for the speaker to be reinstated as he was accused of selling the country in negotiations with the US administration over the nuclear deal in 2015. It lasted for several minutes, showing how the failure of the conventional nuclear deal to boost Iran's economy was used to isolate any reformist candidates in next year's presidential elections.

"I want to thank you for your poignant criticism, but you must know that we are in the same boat. We are all together. America does not distinguish between [liberals, reformers and conservatives, revolutionaries and revolutionaries].
He said Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had accepted his behavior during negotiations on the nuclear deal. "If I lied, he listened and said it was true." If I tell the truth, they have listened and said it is courage.
Zareef's speech was muted by militant MP Javed Karimi Kudusi and many others.
The Foreign Minister said last week's talks at the United Nations Security Council that the US was more isolated than Iran and that the world was changing from the Western period.
Zarif was named a candidate for the presidential election in early 2021 but was not interested.
The new parliament was elected in March with about 25% of the vote, and the divided and dissolved reformists needed a galvanizing candidate if they were to vote in large numbers.
Most reformist MPs refused to stand guardian council responding to the supreme leader.
