Pakistan has temporarily blocked the popular online game PlayerAgnogs Battlefield (PUBG) on Wednesday, following complaints that it was addictive and linked to a brutal, multiplayer shoot-out, according to media reports.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said it had received "a lot of" complaints from the public and that it had a "serious negative impact" on the "physical and mental health of the children" playing the game.
The PTA said it had suspended Internet access to the pending game in the High Court on July 9.
The Pakistan Dawn newspaper reported last month that police have recommended a ban in Lahore after a teenager killed himself.
Police believe a 16-year-old boy committed suicide by failing to complete the mission, the newspaper said.
Often compared to the blockbuster book and film series "The Hunger Games," PUBG plays Warped in a Virtual Death War and has become one of the most popular mobile games in the world.
Pakistani action has similar restrictions in Jordan, Iraq, Nepal, the Indian state of Gujarat and Indonesia's Ashe province.
