Poland’s outgoing candidate Andrzej Duda won the presidential election, with 99.97% of polling station results appearing early Monday, a narrow victory that will allow ruling nationalists to deepen their conservative reforms.
Duda, an ally of the ruling Conservative Law and Justice (PIS) party, received 51.2% of the vote, according to National Election Commission figures released on Monday. The head of the commission told a news conference that the remaining votes would have to be counted, which would not significantly change the outcome.
Centre Platform (PO) candidate Liberal Warsaw mayor Rafael Trajakovsky received 48.8% of the vote.
