Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday filed an appeal before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking exemption from medical hearing in appeals related to Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment References.
In his plea, Nawaz said he was unable to
appear in court due to his illness, adding that doctors in London had also
barred him from traveling.
The petitioner further said that his legal
team had advised him to appear in person to challenge the Punjab government's
decision.
Nawaz requested that he provide all
relevant documents to the Punjab government for further extension of his bail
for medical treatment but his request was, rejected. Nawaz said that due to the
lockdown, his treatment could not be completed’ in the UK.
It may be mentioned’ here that the
division bench of IHC had fixed the case for hearing on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Amjad Pervez, counsel for
Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar moved two separate petitions seeking
adjournment of hearing on the appeals in the Avenfield Property Reference.
Amjad Pervez said that he was on leave
till September 5, and prayed the court to fix the hearing case after the
holidays ended.
