Sunrisers Hyderabad beat their unbeaten Delhi capitals by 15 runs in their first win of the 2020 Indian Premier League season on Tuesday.
After a back-to-back defeat to start their
campaign in the Twenty20 competition, it was the third time they were lucky for
the Censors, who went 162-4 after being’ batted.
Johnny Bairstow led the way in 53 of the
48 deliveries, although it was Ken Williamson who played the most important
role. The New Zealand batsman was drafted in the XI and responded quickly with
41 on the occasion’.
His 26-ball knock included five boundaries
as he took advantage of an excellent 77-run opening stand between Bairstow and
David Warner, who scored 45 in their 50th game as captain.
Delhi saw several batsmen start without a
kick during their failed reply, with Shikhar Dhawan and Rashab Pant struggling
to break the shackles despite scoring 34 and 28 runs respectively.
Rashid Khan was performing at his worst
for Hyderabad, claiming an impressive 3.14, and when Shamar Hettimir scored 21
off 12 overs with a pair of sixes, Delhi were 147-7. Ended on

For fast-scoring Warner and Bairstow in
general, the strike rates of 136 and 110 show how easy it is for batsmen to
force speed at slow and low levels at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
However, Williamson made it clear that
this is not all about power in a nutshell. He was the only right-handed batsman
to find a rhythm, cleverly delivering balls into the gaps and adding 52 with
Bairstow for the third wicket.

Afghanistan International's spell included
13 dot balls and considered it a lonely boundary, as well as taking three
important top-order wickets.
However, if it were not for the wicketkeeper
Bairstow, the league spinner could not have bowled opener Dhawan.
England International were the only ones
to strongly appeal for a catch in the back and initially had to reconsider the
original decision after a review when they were not out on the field.
