French climber Dowdy dies at the age of 16

The French Mountain Climbing Federation (FFME) claims that teen climber Luce Dowdy died while searching for stones near his home in southeastern France.

With a group of 16-year-old friends, she fell 150 meters into the exposed section of Access Road and crossed between two climbing areas.

FFME said on its website https://www.ffme.fr/dools-de-luce-douady that the Mountaineering community was sad to learn of their deaths this Sunday.

"Luce is a very good young athlete from the French climbing team. At just 16 years old, the future is before him. Today the association is in full swing."

Dowdy Jr. is a disciplinary champion in the climbing discipline Boeing Ring, who will compete at the Tokyo Olympics next year.

He finished first in the senior competition last year and finished fifth at the Bouldering World Cup in Well, Colombia.

The International Federation of Sport Climbing described her as a "prolific and talented athlete", but her club chamber Escalade said it was a young woman with "energy, passion and talent. There is mourning for the loss.
