Barcelona have confirmed a positive coronavirus test against Bayern Munich ahead of their Champions League quarter-finals.
However, Blugrana announced on Thursday
that the first team member to travel to Lisbon had not posted it.
Instead, it is one of only nine senior
players to be separated’ from the first team available to the Champions League
in the last eight.
They returned to the club's training the ground on Tuesday for a medical checkup on nine Wednesdays and an examination
before the start of the pre-season on Thursday, signed by the club or returned
with a loan spell elsewhere.
The club statement on Wednesday confirmed
that someone had tested positive and then kept alone.
“After yesterday’s PCR test, a team of
nine players is scheduled to start the pre-season today on Tuesday afternoon,
one of whom is doing positive tests for Kovid-19.
"The victim is asymptomatic, in good
health and alone at home.
"The club has informed effective
sports and health officials. In addition, it has been found’ that all people in
contact with the player have completed the same PCR tests.
"The player has no contact with the
first-team members who plan to travel to Lisbon tomorrow Thursday."
Among the nine players tested on Tuesday
was 20-year-old Francisco Trinco, who signed for the Portuguese, with a new 27
million.
Mithias Fernandez, Jean-Claire Todibo,
Moussa Wagyu, Carles Elena, Rafinha, Miranda and Orol Basket are among others.
Bara did not disclose who gave the
positive test.
Blogrena, who beat Napoli at Camp Nou in
their last 16 tie in the Champions League over the weekend, are hopeful that
advancing at Estadio da Luz will not have any impact on his clash with Bayern.
The two have met in the last eight,
lifting Europe's Premier Club award with Barca for the first time since 2015,
losing to rivals Madrid in La Liga.
