The UN Security Council will hold an informal meeting on Friday on the situation in Belarus, this time in public and with the participation of the country's opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, diplomats said.
A diplomatic source said the video
conference would focus on human rights in Belarus after some foreign media
refused to deport and approve others over the weekend.
As in the previous discussion, the new
closed-door meeting on August 18 is being held’ at the request of Estonia,
which is currently a permanent member of the UN Security Council. It will be
informal and its form does not allow members of the Security Council to
participate.

see the events in Belarus as an internal matter for the country and say they
