The death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg on Friday, six weeks before election day, is expected’ to trigger a fierce battle over whether to nominate President Donald Trump - and for the Republican-led Senate to confirm his successor.
Or this seat will remain vacant until then. Democrats know the outcome of Trump's race against Joe Biden.
Trump had previously named more than 40 people whom he had promised to choose to fill a possible vacancy in the Supreme Court before his first two nominees, Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh name appeared on the lists. Recent additions to Trump's list came earlier this month.

Bridget Bad
Big 9 is a judge in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. She is a graduate of Arizona State University and ASU's Sandra de O'Connor College of Law.
AMY CONEY BARRETT
Barrett is a U.S. Court of Appeals judge for the Seventh Circuit. He is a graduate of Rhodes College and Notre Dame Law School and a former Supreme Court clerk to Justice Antonin Scalia.

Blackwell is the justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia. Blackwell previously served on the Georgia Court of Appeal and as the state's Deputy Special Attorney General.
Daniel Cameron
Cameron is the Attorney General of Kentucky. He previously served as legal adviser to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Cameron is a graduate of the University of Louisville and its Brandies School of Law.
Charles Kennedy
Florida Supreme Court of Canada A former Florida congressman, he was the main sponsor of the first congressional attempt to ban abortion opponents by declaring them partial abortions. He also served as a general adviser to former Florida governor and Trump rival Jeb Bush.
Poole Clement
Clement is a partner with Kirkland & Ellis, LLP. He has previously served as US Solicitor General, debating more than 100 cases before the US Supreme Court. Clement was a clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Cambridge University and Harvard Law School.

Cotton is a U.S. senator from Arkansas. Prior to being elected’ in 2014, Cotton served in the U.S. House and Army. He holds an undergraduate and law degree from Harvard.

Cruz is a Texas U.S. senator who previously served as Texas Solicitor General. He was a clerk for Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist. Cruz is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. He has said he is not interested in justice.

Francisco is a former U.S. Solicitor General.
