Facebook-owned WhatsApp said on Thursday it would introduce missing messages on WhatsApp, a move that would increase its challenge to make SnapChat a competitor.
The
messaging service, used by more than two billion people worldwide, says it will
enable people to choose whether to retain their messages or delete them after
seven days.
A
WhatsApp blog post said, "Nowadays, WhatsApp messages often live on our
phones forever. While it's great to capture the memories of friends and family,
most of us don't need to send them. Is."
"Our
goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp feel as personal as possible, which
means they shouldn't last forever. That's why we introduced the option to use
lost messages on WhatsApp." We are very excited about it. "
Earlier,
Facebook introduced a similar option for its messenger platform, following in
the footsteps of SnapChat, which has gained a strong following among young
smartphone users.
The
blog post said, "WhatsApp chose the seven-day window because we believe it
gives peace of mind that conversations are not permanent, while in practice you
don't forget what you're talking about Were talking. "
"The
shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there when
you need it, and then disappear when you don't need it."
The
move is on the verge of losing young viewers to competitors such as SnapChat
and TikTok, as well as Facebook's core social network, as Facebook-owned
Instagram continues to grow in this demographic group. ۔
Last
month, Piper Jaffe's survey of American teens showed that SnapChat was their
favorite social media platform, and Tik Tok overtook Instagram.
